This is not a generic “top picks from a store”, but a practical research piece built around my own use case:
I needed headphones under UAH 6,000 that could work well for gaming, music, and everyday use —
with wireless mode, proper wired connectivity, and a microphone that would not get in the way in normal life.
During the filtering process, it became clear that the market is much narrower than it looks at first:
some popular models do not have a 3.5 mm connection, some already fall outside the budget,
and some are tuned more for “gaming sound” than for truly versatile use.[1]

Why I was specifically looking for a hybrid headset
In theory, there are many wireless models on the market. In practice, compromises show up immediately:
either there is no proper wired connection, or the microphone is too “gaming-looking” for everyday life,
or the model simply exceeds the budget. In my case, wired mode mattered not as a formality,
but as part of a normal use scenario: zero-latency connection, use without battery power,
better compatibility with different devices, and the option to use the headset with another sound source.[2]
Why 3.5 mm still matters
Even in 2026, wired connection remains critical for some scenarios:
competitive gaming, battery-free use, connection to controllers, or pairing with an external DAC.[2]
Why the microphone is a UX factor, not a small detail
If you need the headset for more than just home use, a fixed “gaming” boom mic becomes a real problem.
That is why I only looked at two options: either a fully detachable mic, or one that retracts into the earcup.[3]
Why not just any gaming brand
Some models work very well specifically for games, but lose points in music because of overemphasized bass,
simplified mids, or weaker detail. So I filtered not by brand, but by the actual usage scenario.[4]
Three models that actually remained after filtering
After reviewing the market and removing models that either lack 3.5 mm support or do not fit the budget,
my shortlist ended up with three main options: Razer Barracuda X (2022), ASUS ROG Strix Go 2.4,
and SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7.[5]
Razer Barracuda X (2022)
The most balanced option within budget: 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm cable support,
detachable microphone, low weight, and a strong sense of everyday versatility.[6]
ASUS ROG Strix Go 2.4
An interesting option for anyone who values mobility, foldable construction,
a carrying case in the box, and a dual microphone setup: detachable main mic plus built-in backup mic.[7]
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7
A model that sits near the budget ceiling, but offers a very strong Sonar ecosystem, a retractable mic,
and — importantly — wired support, unlike Nova 4 and Nova 5, which do not fit this scenario.[8]

For my own scenario, these three models were the most relevant, while many other popular options were filtered out
either because they lacked 3.5 mm support or because they exceeded the budget.[5]
What I ruled out and why
Nova 4 / Nova 5 — no
They look like logical candidates at first glance, but they do not fit my scenario
because they do not provide a proper analog 3.5 mm connection.[8]
HyperX Cloud MIX 2 — only conditionally
It is an interesting model in terms of features, but already too close to or above the budget,
so as a rational “under UAH 6,000” choice it did not remain on my final list.[9]
Razer is not always best for music
The overall conclusion about the brand and series is that some models clearly lean into gaming-oriented bass,
so they are not always the best choice for music, although Barracuda X itself feels reasonably balanced in this segment.[4]
Pricing in Ukraine fluctuates a lot
Official retail chains often provide better warranty support, but at a higher price;
smaller stores can be more attractive on price, but sometimes with shorter warranty coverage.
This genuinely affects the final decision.[10]
What I would recommend to myself after this research
If you want the best overall balance
Razer Barracuda X (2022) looks like the most versatile option
if the goal is to stay within budget and not exceed the UAH 6,000 limit.[6]
If mobility and flexibility matter most
ASUS ROG Strix Go 2.4 looks attractive if you need compactness,
a more travel-friendly format, and a more hybrid day-to-day scenario thanks to the dual microphone logic.[7]
If you want the strongest software and sound tuning
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 is a strong option if you can get it close to the budget ceiling
and if your priorities are Sonar flexibility, a retractable mic, and a more mature overall sound approach.[8]
