SEO Case Study for a Restaurant Chain in Ukraine
How search visibility improved for a HoReCa project even with only partial SEO implementation
This project was not about dramatic growth or inflated claims. The goal was to strengthen
the SEO foundation of a restaurant chain operating across Ukraine: delivery pages, city-based
restaurant pages, and commercial search clusters around pizza, burgers, sushi sets, karaoke,
and celebration-related formats. An important nuance is that only part of the recommendations
was implemented, so this case is presented honestly: without overstatement, but with a clear
focus on what was realistically improved.
Case overview
- Industry: HoReCa / restaurant chain
- Geography: multiple cities across Ukraine

The challenge
For a restaurant chain, SEO has to work across several layers at once:
branded demand, city-based demand, delivery-related searches, and search intent around
specific dining formats such as karaoke, birthday celebrations, sushi sets, or pizza delivery.
The task here was to improve visibility across these important directions and build
a stronger SEO foundation for future growth.
What mattered most
For a multi-city restaurant brand, SEO has to support the brand itself,
local city pages, delivery intent, food-related commercial clusters,
and pages tied to real customer scenarios.
The approach
The work was not limited to metadata. The focus was on strengthening pages and query groups
around delivery, metre-long pizza, sushi sets, karaoke, celebration pages, and city-based demand.
An important limitation
Not all SEO recommendations were implemented. That means this is not a “maximum growth” case,
but a realistic one that reflects the actual result within the scope of what was put in place.
What had to be addressed first
Uneven search demand coverage
Some commercial clusters were weaker than they could have been.
Delivery pages, thematic search directions, and city-based restaurant pages needed stronger support.
A restaurant chain creates a more complex SEO setup
SEO had to support the brand, multiple cities, product-based demand,
and additional entertainment or celebration-related search scenarios.
Stronger intent alignment was needed
Users are not just looking for a restaurant. They are looking to order pizza,
compare sushi sets, book karaoke, or choose a place for a birthday celebration.
Implementation remained incomplete
This directly affected the scale of the outcome.
The project had more growth potential than what could realistically be achieved through partial rollout.
Project workstreams
| Workstream | What was done | Why it mattered |
|---|---|---|
| Chain-level SEO logic | An SEO approach was developed for a restaurant chain operating across multiple cities and commercial formats | To help the website cover branded, local, and product-led demand at the same time |
| Delivery pages | Delivery-related pages and query clusters were strengthened | To improve visibility for high-intent searches closer to ordering behaviour |
| Food-related clusters | Work was done around pizza, burgers, sushi sets, and related query groups | To make the site more relevant for common restaurant and delivery search scenarios |
| City-based pages | Pages and queries linked to specific cities were strengthened | To make the chain more visible not only at brand level, but also in local search |
| Thematic formats | Additional work was done around karaoke, birthdays, and child-related celebration formats | To expand visibility beyond standard restaurant and delivery intent |
| Ranking improvement | Priority keyword groups were strengthened to improve overall ranking positions | To increase the share of queries in the top 3 and top 10 |
| SEO foundation | A stronger long-term SEO direction was established even though implementation remained partial | To give the project a better base for future growth |
How the work was structured
Phase 1. Demand and structure analysis
Priority keyword groups were identified for a multi-city restaurant website:
delivery, city pages, food-related clusters, and additional commercial search scenarios.
Phase 2. Strengthening the key directions
The main focus was placed on pages and queries with direct commercial value:
delivery, sushi sets, metre-long pizza, karaoke, and celebration-related pages.
Phase 3. Measuring gains and identifying potential
Even with only partial implementation, several clusters improved,
making it possible to see both the positive movement and the unrealised growth potential.
What the metrics showed
In this case, it is more accurate to look at ranking improvements in the priority clusters
rather than trying to frame the project as a dramatic growth story. In the compared snapshot,
the number of keywords in the top 3 increased from 5 to 18, while keywords in the top 10
grew from 42 to 56. For a HoReCa project with partial implementation, that is a meaningful
improvement and a sign that the work was moving in the right direction.
| Metric | Before | After | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keywords in top 3 | 5 | 18 | Some important commercial queries moved into a much stronger ranking range |
| Keywords in top 10 | 42 | 56 | The website became more visible across a broader set of restaurant and delivery searches |
| Stronger clusters | — | delivery, burgers, pizza, parts of local city pages | These were the areas with the clearest SEO progress |
| Additional directions | — | karaoke, children’s celebrations, birthdays | These represent further HoReCa search opportunities beyond standard delivery demand |
| Result limitation | — | partial implementation | The actual growth potential of the project was higher than the final outcome |
What this work delivered
This was not an “ideal” SEO case. It was a realistic improvement in the site’s SEO base:
better visibility across several priority clusters, more keywords in the top 10,
and a clearer long-term growth direction. For a restaurant chain operating across Ukraine,
that matters because SEO has to support an entire system of pages, cities, and commercial search scenarios.
Stronger top 3 performance
The number of top 3 keywords increased from 5 to 18,
showing that some of the most important commercial pages became more competitive in search.
Better top 10 visibility
With 56 keywords in the top 10, the site gained a stronger and more stable search presence
across relevant restaurant-related queries.
More visibility across cities and formats
Delivery, city pages, metre-long pizza, burgers, karaoke,
and celebration-related formats all gained stronger search visibility.
A stronger base for future growth
Even with incomplete rollout, the website moved in a more accurate SEO direction
that could be scaled further with full implementation.
- strengthened SEO visibility for a restaurant chain operating across Ukraine
- increased the share of important queries in the top 3 and top 10
- worked on delivery, city pages, pizza, burgers, karaoke, and celebration-related search intent
- established a stronger long-term SEO foundation for the website
- clearly acknowledged the limitations of the outcome due to partial implementation
The strongest parts of the project
Multi-city restaurant SEO
This was not a single local venue, but a brand operating across multiple cities,
where SEO had to support different geographies and commercial page types at once.
Real HoReCa search intent
The work covered not only general restaurant searches,
but also delivery, karaoke, birthdays, and child-related celebration demand.
Honest presentation of results
The case is not overstated. Not all recommendations were implemented,
and that is reflected directly in how the outcome is described.
A clearer SEO direction
Even without full rollout, the project made it clear
which pages and keyword groups were delivering the strongest return in this niche.
Why this is a useful HoReCa proof point
This case shows how SEO for a restaurant chain in Ukraine works in real business conditions,
where implementation is not always perfect. Even with partial rollout, it is still possible
to strengthen visibility, improve rankings in priority clusters, and create a more reliable
foundation for stronger future results.
